SINGLE DAY — Lake 69 Trek (4,604 m)
5:00 a.m. — Pick-up from your hotel
Prior acclimatisation is MANDATORY: at least 2 nights in Huaraz beforehand. A demanding trek.
8:00 a.m. — Breakfast at a roadside restaurant
Optional breakfast stop + Llanganuco Lake (10-minute photo stop).
9:00 a.m. — Arrival at Cebollapampa (3,900 m)
The trek starting point.
Uphill trek (3 hours)
- First hour: flat trail through the valley among the Pisco, Huascarán and Chacraraju peaks.
- Second hour: the first steep climb over glacial moraines to the intermediate plateau.
- Third hour: the final ascent up the gorge to 4,604 m. The most demanding stretch.
12:00 p.m. — Lake 69 (4,604 m)
1.5 hours to take photos, eat your box lunch and enjoy. Views of the Pisco (5,752 m), Chacraraju (6,108 m), Chopicalqui (6,354 m) and Huascarán (6,768 m) peaks.
1:30 p.m. — Descent (3 hours)
5:00 p.m. — Board the bus to Huaraz
7:00 p.m. — Arrival
End of the tour.
Difficulty reality check
6 hours of hiking at over 4,000 m with 700 m of accumulated elevation gain. You need acclimatisation + good cardiovascular fitness + a strong mind for the final 30 minutes uphill.
